      Ties generally leave teams with an empty feeling. In the case of the 2-2 draw between Howell and Manalapan last Wednesday, enough good things happened for both soccer teams for them to think positively about the outcome. For the visiting Braves, it was another affirmation that they are back playing at a very high level again.

Weakfish abound along the Raritan

      After a foggy start out of the Raritan and a bit of hunting, the crew of the Island Girl finally found what they were looking for: hungry weakfish. Bill Lee, Rich and Carmine Nuzzolo, along with Kerry Smith and Rich Malkowsky found quality fish in the 3-5- pound range. Rich Malkowsky was the high hook, taking his limit of these speckled beauties.

Jackson drivers take honors at Wall Speedway
      Kevin Flockhart of Jackson led five other Wall Township Speedway drivers, from contenders to class titlists, on Scott Motor Coach Sales/Scouts Night on Saturday at Wall Speedway. Flockhart overcame an early race suspension part break to finish fourth to fellow Jackson resident and modified feature winner Jason Treat.

Monmouth soccer teams poised to make postseason run Men and women each have six overall wins, doing well in NEC play

      Alittle over a month into the season, both the Monmouth University men's and women's soccer teams appear poised to challenge for Northeast Conference championships. The defending champion men opened conference play on Saturday with a convincing 4-0 victory over Mount Saint Mary's on The Great Lawn.
