      New Egypt in the midst of a record-setting campaign
      Boys soccer team has 13 wins
            In addition to earning a spot in the state playoffs, the New Egypt High School boys soccer team has set a couple of school records this season. The Warriors have clinched at least a tie for first place in the Burlington County Interscholastic Athletic League Freedom Division, and have set a new mark for victories in a single season with 13.

      RU football defeats No. 2 South Florida
      Ray Rice's 181 yards on the ground lead Scarlet Knights to victory
            Rutgers needed this one. After putting together the most successful season in school history a year ago, the Scarlet Knights had seen a little bit of the shine come off their armor this season with disappointing back-toback losses to Maryland and Cincinnati after starting out 3-0.

      Anglers locate some serious weakfish action
            My trip on the Island Girl this week resulted in an all-out blitz on some nice-size weakfish. In two hours, Rich Nuzzolo, Bill Lee, Frank Iannone and crew maxed out on weakfish. The scene at the entrance of the Verrazano Bridge on the Staten Island side was like the movie "Jaws." There were over 100 boats positioning in for the same drift.

            Basketball players wanted for area HS CYO League. There are openings for freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors for this highly competitive league. Potential players should be parishioners of St. Al's or St. Monica's R.C. Church in Jackson. Limited exceptions to the parishioner rule are allowed.
