      PTO seeking vendors
            The Howard C. Johnson Elementary School PTO is seeking vendors for its holiday craft and vendor fair to be held Dec. 1 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the school, 1021 Larsen Road, Jackson. Spaces are $20. The PTO is also seeking donations of items to be raffled off at the event.

      English conversation group leaders sought
            The Ocean County Library is looking for volunteers to lead an English conversation group at several of its branches. Locally, the conversation groups will be offered at the Brick, Jackson, Lakewood, Plumsted, Point Pleasant Beach and Toms River branches.

      Internet safety will be focus of discussion
            A talk on "Social Networking and Internet Safety" will be hosted by the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Computer Crime Unit and the Ocean County Library at 6 p.m. Nov. 27 at the Jackson library, 2 Jackson Drive, Jackson. The program includes highlights of the spring 2007 undercover sting operation in Ocean County featured on "Dateline NBC: To Catch a Predator.

      Howell plans Dec. 8 trip to Rockefeller Center
            Howell Township is planning a bus trip to Rockefeller Center, New York City, Dec. 8, 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Attendees will enjoy a day of shopping or sightseeing and a visit to the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree.       JTMUA will sponsor fourth annual blood drive
            The Jackson Township Municipal Utilities Authority will sponsor its fourth annual blood drive in conjunction with the Jersey Central Blood Bank, Dec. 5, 2-6 p.m. at the JTMUA administration building, 135 Manhattan St., Jackson.       Jackson Township plans annual tree lighting event
            Jackson Township will hold the annual tree lighting event at the municipal building, West Veterans Highway, on Dec. 1 at 4:30 p.m. Festivities will include performances by the Jackson Council for the Arts and the Mayor's Special People's Chorus. After the tree is lit, a "special person" will visit to help kick off the holiday season.

      Women of Today selling Evening of Giving tickets
            The Jackson Women of Today are selling Evening of Giving tickets. Evening of Giving is a special, private evening of shopping for those who have donated $10 through the purchase of these special tickets. Evening of Giving will be held Nov. 18 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the Ocean County Mall, Toms River. During the event the mall will be closed to the public.

      Association seeking volunteers in Jackson
            The Monmouth County Association for the Blind is seeking driver volunteers in the Jackson area on an as-needed basis. Volunteers will assist members in getting to their dinner meetings in Wall Township and back home. The meetings are held the second Monday of every month from 6-8 p.m. Volunteers are invited to stay for dinner.

      Catholic Charities accepts food donations
            Each year Catholic Charities, Emergency and Community Services collects and distributes food for the holiday season to low-income residents of Ocean County. A representative from Emergency and Community Services will be present at all Strand Theater, Lakewood, events now through Dec. 12, to accept donations of nonperishable foods for the holidays.

      Jackson Memorial H.S. class of '87 plans reunion
            The Jackson Memorial High School class of 1987 will host its 20-year reunion Nov. 24 from 7 p.m. to midnight at the Ramada Inn, Route 70, Lakewood.       Volunteers needed for AARP tax counseling
            The AARP tax aide program is looking for people who would like to help others with tax counseling. Volunteers will receive training with the cooperation of the Internal Revenue Service and the New Jersey Division of Taxation during the first two weeks of January. Classes will form in December.

      Defensive driving class offered in Lakewood
            Lakewood Community School, in cooperation with American Drivers Safety Council, is sponsoring "Defensive Driving - 2 Point Reduction" classes. The class will be held at the Best Western Hotel, 1600 Route 70, Lakewood, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and participants may choose to attend either Nov. 25 or Dec. 2. The fee to attend is $40.
