Level 6 USAG gymnasts from Twisters Gymnastics, Lakewood, competed in the Christmas on the Chesapeake meet hosted by Docksiders Gymnastics in Baltimore, Md. Melissa Reinstadtler of Brick took first place on vault (9.35), second place on bars (9.0), first place on floor exercise (9.2) and first place on beam (9.225) en route to a first-place finish in the All Around competition with a score of 36.775. Brianna Acacia of Jackson took first place on the bars (9.225), second place on beam (9.15), second place of floor exercise (9.15) and third place on vault (9.225) en route to a second-place finish in the All Around competition with a score of 36.75. Meghan Hughes of Lakewood came in fifth place on vault (9.0) and seventh place on floor exercise (8.45). She scored 8.0 on beam and 8.05 on bars for an eighth-place finish in the All Around competition with a score of 33.5. Brianna, Melissa and Meghan competed in the 7-9-year-old age group.
Claudia Zangari of Brick came in fourth place on vault (8.8), fifth place on beam (8.65), and fifth place on bars (8.45). She scored 7.85 on floor exercise (8.55) en route to a seventh-place finish in the All Around competition with a score of 33.75. Claudia competed in the 10-year-old age group. The team placed fifth out of 28 teams.
Jackson Soccer Club's U-9 boys soccer team Venom is looking for two additional players for its spring season. Winter training and indoor league play are available. The player's birthday must fall between Aug. 1, 1998, and July 31, 1999. Interested players should contact coach Brian Schnaak at schnaak@verizon. net.
