      Become a substitute teacher in three days
            The Department of School Relations at Ocean County College, Toms River, is offering a three-day substitute teacher training workshop in January. The course will be offered from 3:30-9:30 p.m. Jan. 11, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 12 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 13 in conference rooms A and B, College Center/Bookstore, OCC Main Campus, College Drive, Toms River.

      School board asks governor to relax election standard
            COLTS NECK- Administrators in the Colts Neck K-8 School District are trying to head off a potential problem before it occurs. When a bill that created a 4 percent cap on local school districts' property tax levies was signed into law by Gov. Jon Corzine in April, a part of that law came into existence that could begin to have an effect on school districts in April 2008.
