      Gov. has not placed state on path to stability
            Greg Bean's column that appeared on Dec. 27 was right on the mark ("Day of Reckoning is On the Horizon for Budget"). I would like to add that Gov. Jon Corzine and the lame duck Legislature don't apparently get the message, "the money well has run dry, something realistic must be done.

      Jackson council needs independent voices
            As we ring out the old and ring in the new, in Jackson we should look to ring out the three members of the Township Council who will be up for re-election in May and ring in three new nonpartisan, responsible members.

      Doctor says don't reject all universal health-care proposals
            The Dec. 27 column by Blue-State Greg Bean and Red-State Dave Simpson, "If You Like the Post Office, You'll Love Universal Health Care," is almost funny: "funny" for their inanity claiming to be humor, "almost" for the tragedy that some readers might take either diatribe seriously and reject all universal health-care proposals out of hand.
