The Rutgers men's indoor track and field team competed a handful of student-athletes at the 2008 New Balance Collegiate Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Armory Track and Field Center in New York City.
Highlighting the Scarlet Knights' performances on the weekend was junior Steve Swern (Mount Laurel) in the 500- meter. Swern placed third out of 56 runners with a time of 1:02.40 (Big East and IC4A qualifier).
Other Scarlet Knights posting Big East and IC4A qualifying times were junior Kyle Grady in the 60-meter hurdles and sophomore Tyrone Putman in the triple jump. Grady ran 8.08 in the hurdles, while Lopez recorded a leap of 47-3.
Rutgers will return to action on Friday, Feb. 15, for the Lafayette/Rider Invitational at the Armory. The Scarlet Knights will then gear up for the 2008 Big East Indoor Championships on Feb. 23.
