      Fire company installs officers for 2008

      The New Egypt Fire Company, Plumsted, held its annual Installation of Officers Ceremony on Jan. 26. Officers for 2008 are Bill Allen, chief; Steve Morgan, career deputy chief; Don Kernan, assistant chief; Tony Addesa, captain; Ron Tilghman, captain; Steve LaChance, chief emeritus; Wayne Wharton, safety officer; Rick Byrne, career captain; and Mike Cowell, Fire Police captain.

      The New Egypt Fire Company has been serving Plumsted for more than 100 years.

      During 2007 the fire company responded to 333 incident calls for a total of 4,538 man hours and in excess of that were 1,833 man hours of training. Highlighting the awards ceremony were presentations to Don Kernan, Firefighter of the Year; the President'sAward toMike Cowell; Past Chiefs ServiceAward to Robert Goff, a member since 1956; and Most Calls Answered Award to Ken Ivins.
