Boy Scouts seek old flags for retirement ceremony
      Jackson Boy Scout Troop 104 will hold a flag retirement ceremony on its camping trip over the weekend of May 16. Anyone who has a United States flag that needs retiring is asked to bring it to the Cassville firehouse, 785 Miller Ave, Jackson, on May 12 between 8-9 p.m.

      JACKSON- The JacksonMemorial High SchoolAthletic Department will host its second annual Jags Classic Golf Tournament on June 13 at the Hanover Golf Club in Jacobstown. Registration will be held 1:30-2:45 p.m., with a shotgun start at 3 p.m. The event will also include raffles, auction and door prizes, as well as a dinner buffet.

Benefit will raise funds to assist local resident
      A benefit to help area resident Tony Conk, who has retropharyngeal sarcoma, a rare form of cancer of the throat, will be held May 24 from noon to 5 p.m. at Mulligan's Bar and Restaurant, 203 Squankum Road, Howell. The event will include dinner, entertainment, an auction and door prizes. Donations from local businesses are needed.

June 6 food-tasting festival to raise funds
      The 16th annual "LookWho's Cooking" food-tasting festival will take place from 6-8 p.m. June 6 at Christ Episcopal Church, Washington Street, Toms River. Tickets cost $45 and can be purchased at the door. "Look Who's Cooking" is a major fundraiser and a necessity to continue helping uninsured and underinsured women in Ocean County at the Family Planning Center, Lakewood.

      The JacksonWomen of Today will present its annual gift auction and luncheon, "Wave of Gifts," on June 8 at 1 p.m. at the Woodlake Country Club, Lakewood. Proceeds will enable the Jackson Women of Today to continue its tradition of providing scholarships to local students, aiding families in need and continuing to fund and run the Jackson Food Pantry.

      HOWELL- Zane Nelms, a student at Howell Middle School South, took part in the Congressional Youth Leadership Council's (CYLC) Young Leadership Conference, held Feb. 7-10 in Princeton. The National Young Leaders State Conference in New Jersey honors and recognizes outstanding middle school students for their scholastic achievement and leadership potential.
