Doo wop dinner-dance planned for dads & girls
      HOWELL - A Father and Daughter Doo Wop Dinner and Dance sponsored by the Howell Recreation Department will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sept. 19 at Our House Restaurant, Howell. Tickets are $31 per person and can be purchased at the recreation building, 251 Preventorium Road. The event is geared toward children ages 5-12.

      In an effort to give every deserving student in Monmouth County a special prom night, Freehold Township High School has started a chapter of Becca's Closet, a nonprofit organization that provides formal attire to high school students who would not otherwise be able to afford such attire for a prom or homecoming ceremonies.

Police are in pursuit of seat belt compliance
      JACKSON - Helped by the receipt of a $4,000 Click-It or Ticket grant, Jackson police have been conducting a seat-belt compliance effort since May 19. The Click-It or Ticket program will run through June 1 and focus attention on seatbelt use in motor vehicles and results in tickets being issued to individuals who are not property restrained.

      Two women from Howell are going the extra mile to raise money for the American Cancer Society's annual Relay for Life event, in which they participated May 16-17 in Wall Township. In an effort to supplement the proceeds to help find a cure for cancer, Barbara Springer and Laurie Pietropollo are hosting a 1970s dance.

Golf outing will benefit school's athletic dept.
      The JacksonMemorialHigh SchoolAthletic Department will host its second annual Jags Classic Golf Tournament June 13 at Hanover Golf Club in Jacobstown. Registration is from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m., with a shotgun start at 3 p.m. There will be raffles, an auction and door prizes, as well as a dinner buffet.
