Goetz Middle School students (l-r) Lindsey Cassella, Kayla Bronznya and Ben Meyer were named semifinalists (one of the top 30 ideas in the United States) in the Christopher Columbus Awards, a program that gives middle school pupils the opportunity for positive change in their community. The three eighth-graders worked as a team and developed the idea of a rapid rescue device that pinpoints dangerous situations for early responders. The students are flanked by their teacher Kathleen Sgro and Jackson Board of Education President Marvin Krakower.
