      Seats available for trip to St. Padre Pio Shrine

      Bus trip planned to Cape May Oktoberfest Oct. 4
            The Lakewood Community School is accepting reservations for a bus trip to the Oktoberfest on Jackson Street in Victorian Cape May on Oct. 4. The fee of $30 includes transportation only. The bus will depart from the Lakewood municipal building at 8:30 a.m., arrive in Cape May at about 10:30 a.m. and return to Lakewood at about 6:30 p.m.

      2008 NJ Citizens Guide to Government available
            The League of Women Voters of Ocean County announced that the 2008 "New Jersey Citizens Guide to Government," a comprehensive resource on state elected officials, state departments and divisions, voting districts and election information, is now available for purchase. It includes information about all the new legislators, their district offices, phone and fax numbers.

      'Journey with Dinosaurs' at vacation Bible school
            All Saints Episcopal Church, at the corner of Route 9 and Second Street, Lakewood, will hold a vacation Bible school from 9 a.m. to noon July 14-18. Children of all ages are welcome to "Journey with Dinosaurs" for free. As part of the adventure, the program will offer a special workshop for students in middle school and high school. Pre-registration required by July 1.

            • A children's health and weight management program is being offered for free to uninsured residents between the ages of 6-16 who are more than 20 pounds overweight. The program will be held from 4-5 p.m. June 11, 18 and 25 at Kimball Medical Center's Institute for Rehabilitative and Occupational Health Services, 500 River Ave., Lakewood.

      180's Father's Day cards now available to public
            The men's task force of 180 Turning Lives Around, Hazlet, is selling greeting cards as a way to recognize dads on Father's Day and to raise funds for combating domestic violence and sexual abuse. Graphic artists were invited to design the $5 cards. Designers including Judi Mumford-Guerry, Cynthia Soler and Lori Oakes created a total of four cards.

      June 6 food-tasting festival to raise funds
            The 16th annual "Look Who's Cooking" food-tasting festival will take place 6-8 p.m. June 6 at Christ Episcopal Church, Washington Street, Toms River. Tickets cost $45 and can be purchased at the door. "Look Who's Cooking" is a major fundraiser and a necessity to continue helping uninsured and underinsured women in Ocean County at the Family Planning Center, Lakewood.
