Youth event slated for Jackson church June 21
Jackson United Methodist Church, 68 Bennetts Mills Road, Jackson, invites the community to its annual youth event, "Illuminating Immersion II," 4-9 p.m. June 21. Free admission will include food, games and contemporary Christian music. This year's theme will be "Walking on Water." Entertainment will begin with Jackson's Liberty Idol, Chris Jess Gorden along with Mel Wagner performing some of their original songs and some familiar praise songs. Other artists will include Landing Lane, a four-piece band from Elkton, Md.; and Chris Dickson from New Brunswick, who uses a broadmusical style to relay his faith, struggles and triumphs through his music.
Games will include a water balloon slingshot, a dunking booth and a water relay race, among other things. Proceeds will be donated to Blood:WaterMission, an organization that builds clean water wells and supports the building of medical facilities in HIV/AIDS-ravaged parts of Africa.
