Jackson council should examine all the data before making decision

There appears to be a rush to judgment about what to do with the Jackson building department. All of the data is not in. None of the data has been shared with the public.

Some members of the public as well as the building department might actually have some meaningful suggestions to improve its operations or how to mitigate operating expenses.

If a vote is taken at the next Jackson Township Council meeting, none of this will be able to be researched or factored into a decision.

It is also patently absurd to believe that a decision to close the building department on June 24 will enable an orderly transition to a third-party provider by July 1. At this time there is no necessity for a rush to judgment.

A decision by the council to move forward on the mayor's request can and should be held in abeyance until the data has been able to have been reviewed by the public.

Such decisions need to be supported by the electorate. You need to have faith that when

presented with the real facts, the public will support the council in making the hard decisions.

There will always be detractors for every council decision, but as was demonstrated with your wise decision on emergency medical services, public scrutiny and input, as well as meaningful reviews by the members of council, yields the best results for the residents of this township.

Hopefully, all members of council, whether they are retiring or continuing on in their term of office, will do the right thing at the next council meeting.
