      Elks spaghetti dinner will benefit accident victim
            The Jackson Elks Lodge 2744, 1059 E. Veterans Highway, Jackson, will host a benefit spaghetti dinner 5-9 p.m. July 11. The cost is $10 per person. Proceeds will help defray medical expenses for Larry Stanecki, who was rear-ended June 20 by an 18-wheel tanker-truck and was ultimately run over and pinned under his own 10-wheel crane truck.

      Pine Creek Gang hits the rails at Allaire July 19
            Trains will be leaving every 45 minutes beginning at noon July 19 and 20 as The New Jersey Museum of Transportation at Allaire State Park, Route 524, Wall Township, hosts The Great Train Robbery at Pine Creek. The fare will be $5 per person to take a ride on a historic train.

      Churches will host vacation Bible school
            JACKSON - The DeBows United Methodist Church and the Cornerstone Presbyterian Church will offer a vacation Bible school program for the community 6:15-8 p.m. July 14-18 at DeBows Church, corner of Route 571 and Route 537, Jackson. Classes will be available for children 3 years of age through high school. The theme is "Beach Party: Surfin' Through the Scriptures.

      'Little Shop of Horrors' to be on stage in Jackson
            "Little Shop of Horrors" will be presented by HTC Productions at 8 p.m. July 25, 26,Aug. 1 and 2, and 2 p.m. July 27, at the Jackson Memorial High School Fine Arts Auditorium, Don Connor Boulevard, Jackson. Advance tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for students and seniors. Tickets purchased at the door will cost an addition $2 each. Group rates are available.

      Elks award scholarships to New Egypt students
            PLUMSTED - New Egypt Elks Lodge No. 2457 Exalted Ruler Stan Reynolds and youth activities Chairman Ed Moore attended a New Egypt High School awards ceremony celebrating the students' achievements. The Youth Activities Committee awarded Kyle Emery and Alicia Hendrickson with $1,500 scholarships for their outstanding work and dedication.

      Community School will host fall Cape May trip
            The Lakewood Community School is sponsoring a bus trip to an Oktoberfest in Victorian Cape May from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 4. The fee, which is for transportation only, is $30. The annual Cape May Oktoberfest on Jackson Street will feature German food, music, a beer garden and handmade items and crafts.

      Jackson Elks picnic and poker run to benefit kids
            Jackson Elks Lodge 2744, 1059 East Veterans Highway, Jackson, will host its third annual fundraising benefit picnic and poker run on Aug. 23, (rain or shine). Sign-up for the event will begin at 10 a.m. at the lodge, and directions for the run will be given out at that time. The cost to participate in the poker run is $20 per person, which includes the picnic.

      Friends of Elvis annual fan convention Aug. 2
            Elvis Presley fans will gather at the Russell O. Brachman School, 600 Barnegat Blvd. North, Barnegat, for the summer 2008 Friends of Elvis Convention for Charity, 1-4 p.m. Aug. 2. The event will feature live concerts by local Elvis tribute artists and Elvis memorabilia vendors.
