National Night Out set for Aug. 5 in Jackson
JACKSON - The Jackson Police Department will host National Night Out, an evening of fun that promotes safety in the community.
The event will take place 6-9 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Jackson ShopRite plaza, North County Line and Cook roads.
"National Night Out is an international event celebrated in local communities and military installations around the world," Jackson Police Sgt. John Convery said.
The event will feature many activities, including electronic child identification kits, child safety seat inspections by Jackson Police Department traffic safety officers, and a display by the members of the New Jersey State Police.
The Jackson Police Department's Special Response Team will be on hand to answer questions and demonstrate what they do. The Jackson Township Office of Emergency Management will also be present on National Night Out.
Fire trucks and firefighting equipment will be displayed by all four of Jackson's fire companies, and the Jackson First Aid Squad will be on hand with its lifesaving equipment.
Demonstrations will be presented by the Jackson Academy of Taekwondo, and the New Jersey National Guard will be represented at the event as well.
Games, food and entertainment are also part of National Night Out, courtesy of New Jersey Lawn and Irrigation. There will be hot dogs, hamburgers, potato chips and prizes courtesy of Jackson ShopRite.
Community organizations will be on hand with information about how to get involved in the community.
"Come out and learn what's available in your hometown," Convery said. "Everyone is invited to attend this special event to celebrate unity in our community."
