      Holbrook comes back to beat TR East in district tourney
            On a night when a rainstorm threatened to wash away any chance of a late-game rally, the Holbrook 14-year-old All-Stars still had some thunder left in their bats to produce a pair of seventh-inning runs to escape with a dramatic 8-7 come-from-behind win over Toms River East National in a District 18 tournament game.

      Belmar Five enjoys another successful run
      International runners rule the day
            More than 2,800 runners registered and 2,354 of them finished the Belmar Five Johnny Cobb Memorial Run on Saturday. Kenyan Abraham Ngetich crossed the finish line in 24:15.6, just under 2 seconds ahead of Genna Tufu, of Ethiopia, in the men's race. In the women's division, Buzunesh Deba, also an Ethiopian, came in first with a time of 27:36.

      Bonjavanni motivated by European tour
      Ex-Rebel played for USA lacrosse
            The uniform colors were similar to high school: dark blue shorts and white top. When Howell's Anthony Bonjavanni first put them on, he thought back to his lacrosse days at Howell High School. Then he saw the letters on the front - USA - and it was no longer high school.
