• Jackson Day will be held Sept. 6 (rain date Sept. 7) at John F. Johnson Memorial Park, Jackson. The event will begin at noon with a parade from the Holman School into the park. Entertainment will feature a concert by Rocksplosion, a rock star tribute band, at 3:30 p.m. There will be vendors with treats, games and rides. "Support Our Troops" donation barrels will be placed around the park to collect items for soldiers such as toiletries, videos, books, etc. A fireworks display will end the night. • The New Jersey Museum of Transportation's Pine Creek Railroad at Allaire State Park will hold its annual Railroaders Weekend, Sept. 6-7 at the park, 4265 Atlantic Ave. (Route 524), Wall Township. Trains will leave every half hour from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The event will feature vintage locomotives and trains, displays and exhibits. Train rides are $5 per person and everything else is free. • A Walk in the Park fundraiser to raise public awareness and funding for childhood cancers will take place Sept. 7 at Six Flags Great Adventure, Jackson. Guests can register at walkintheparks.org for $25. All guests who raise $250 will get a free ticket to the park. Guests can also register on Sept. 7 at 8 a.m. The walk will kick off at 9 a.m. at the main gate. Details: www.sixflags.com.
• The food pantry at the DeBows United Methodist Church will be open on Sept. 8 and Sept. 22 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The food pantry is open to all area residents. The church is at the intersection of Route 571 and Route 537 in Jackson. For further information, call 732-928-4475.

• Getting Your Garden Ready for Spring, a free program, will be presented by master gardener Dorothy Lawrence at 7 p.m. Sept. 9, at the Jackson library, 2 Jackson Drive, Jackson. Open to the public. Registration: 732-928-4400.
• A live auction of fine art, sports memorabilia, music memorabilia and more, hosted by the Brandeis National Committee Harmony Chapter, will be held at Eagle Ridge Golf Club, 2 Augusta Blvd., Lakewood, Sept. 11. All funds raised will benefit the Science Laboratory Fund for research in neurodegenerative diseases. • Cub Scouts Special Needs Pack 178 will meet on the first and third Monday of each month, beginning Sept. 15, from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Jackson AMVETS, 1290 Toms River Road, Jackson.
