• Jackson Day will be held Sept. 6 (rain date Sept. 7) at John F. Johnson Memorial Park, Jackson. The event will begin at noon with a parade from the Holman School into the park. Entertainment will feature a concert by Rocksplosion, a rock star tribute band, at 3:30 p.m. There will be vendors with treats, games and rides. "Support Our Troops" donation barrels will be placed around the park to collect items for soldiers such as toiletries, videos, books, etc. A fireworks display will end the night. • The New Jersey Museum of Transportation's Pine Creek Railroad at Allaire State Park will hold its annual Railroaders Weekend, Sept. 6-7 at the park, 4265 Atlantic Ave. (Route 524), Wall Township. Trains will leave every half hour from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The event will feature vintage locomotives and trains, displays and exhibits. Train rides are $5 per person and everything else is free. • A Walk in the Park fundraiser to raise public awareness and funding for childhood cancers will take place Sept. 7 at Six Flags Great Adventure, Jackson. All funds raised will benefit the Science Laboratory Fund for research in neurodegenerative diseases.
