Class will teach Microsoft Word
      The Lakewood Community School Program is accepting registrations for a fourweek course in Microsoft Word as part of the fall adult enrichment program. The class will be held at Lakewood High School on Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. commencing Oct. 8. The instructor will cover the use of tool bars, editing, formatting and simple graphics. GED orientation and practice test offered
      The Lakewood Community School is accepting registrations for the GED Orientation and Practice Test to be held at Lakewood High School, 855 Somerset Ave., Oct. 14 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. The fee is $15. The test will be scored the same night to determine the areas in which additional study is needed. The Practice GED Test is also available during the day by appointment only.

      LAKEWOOD — The Strand Theater's annual Fall Members-Only Show featuring chapter President Frank McGinley, acclaimed artist nationally and internationally, will run from Oct. 3 to Nov. 10. A gallery reception, awards ceremony, and entry pickup will be held from 1-4 p.m. Nov. 9. The awards ceremony will take place at 2:30 p.m.

Gift auction to aid special-needs people
      The Jackson Township Friends of the Handicapped gift basket auction will be held 1-5 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Melvin Cottrell Senior Center for the Disabled/Handicapped, 45 Don Connor Blvd., Jackson. The event, which will benefit the special-needs population in Jackson, will feature gift baskets, coffee, tea, cake and cookies.

Bowling event will aid children in need Oct. 5
      The Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) together with the Claudia Lives On Memorial Fund, will honor Claudia Thomas and Gina Sgambati Oct. 5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at a family event to benefit both organizations at Howell Lanes, Route 9 south, Howell. The cost of $20 per adult and $12 per child will include shoe rental and two games of bowling.

      The Molle Management Talent and Model Agency will host and open talent call 4-8 p.m. Oct. 4 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 5 at Music University, 3585 Route 9, Freehold Township (ShopRite Plaza). The agency refers clients ages 5-19 to audition for film, television, commercials, print, musical theater and voiceovers.
