      Writer got it wrong when going after official
            On Oct. 9, in this spot, you read a letter by Todd Porter titled "Writer Finds Kafton's Push for Mayor to be Offensive." Mr. Porter recently ran against me for Jackson Township Council and lost by a 2-1 margin. I am certainly used to my political opponents attacking me.

      Letter demeans those who are true believers
            Borden Applegate (Letters to the Editor, Tri-Town News, Oct. 2) continues to demean those who are believers. The hate he has in his heart is beyond my comprehension. He writes, "Boys will be enlightened that they were created from a pile of dirt (dust).

      Educational foundation is ready to continue working for schools
            Each year at this time, we begin our fundraising efforts that we believe will add to the Jackson School District as it continues to strive forward in raising our educational standards. As the Jackson Educational Foundation membership grew, so did our fundraising activities during the 2007-08 school year.

      Answers on superintendent are less than satisfying
            I was in attendance at the Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education meeting on Oct. 6 and was dumbfounded by the (board) attorney's statements that, in essence, said we are stuck with this arrogant, egotistical, person who, along with others, committed fraud and misappropriated taxpayer funds by their actions.

      Councilman's performance is worthy of an acting award
            Jackson Councilman Mike Kafton deserves only one thing, and that is an Oscar for his performances at all the meetings. He is continually posturing. It is well known that he wants to be the next mayor. He wanted this new form of government and he succeeded in that, but shall not get everything he wants. Silly season is something of the past — it is now year-round.
