Jackson will host Safe Halloween event
      Jackson's 2008 Safe Halloween event will be held at the municipal building, 95 West Veterans Highway, 1-4:30 p.m. Oct. 31. There will be entertainment by Mr. Scott the Music Man and treats from 1:10-1:45 p.m. Then from 2-2:30 p.m., Witch Craft Comedy and Conjuring will brew up some magic tricks and illusions in which the audience will be able to participate.

Oktoberfest slated for St. Aloysius Church
      St. Aloysius Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Road, Jackson, will host an Oktoberfest Night 6-10 p.m. Oct. 25. Admission prices will be $12 per adult, $8 for children 6-15 years old, and free for age 5 and under. The night will include traditional German food and birch beer, music and singing, and activities for children.

Defensive driving class to be offered
      Lakewood Community School, in cooperation with the American Drivers Safety Council, will sponsor a Defensive Driving-2 Point Reduction class on Oct. 26 or Nov. 9. The class will be held at the Best Western Hotel, 1600 Route 70, Lakewood, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; the fee is $40.
