Chamber honors presented
JACKSON — Four members of the community have been recognized by the Jackson Chamber of Commerce as Citizen of the Year.
"All of the honorees have distinguished themselves as making significant contributions to the Jackson Chamber of Commerce," chamber President Clara Glory said. "On behalf of the township and on behalf of the board of directors, I am proud to pay tribute to them."
The chamber's banquet was held at the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club, Lakewood, and drew a crowd of 175 guests.
A gift auction followed dinner. Proceeds from the gift auction will go toward the Jackson Scholarship Fund.
The chamber recognized Ocean Harbor House, a nonprofit organization that is a safe haven for youths and is the only shelter serving the children of Ocean and Monmouth counties.
Vito F. Cardinale of Cardinale Enterprises received the Business of the Year Award. Cardinale is the owner and operator of Jackson Crossings, a new retail and office center in the township.
State Farm Insurance agent Andrew Weinstein received the Man of the Year award for his contributions to the Jackson community and Patricia Smith, president of the New Jersey Lyme Disease Association, received the Woman of the Year award.
Among the guests in attendance were U.S. Congressman Christopher Smith, state Sen. Robert Singer, state Assemblymen Ron Dancer and Joe Malone, and Jackson Township Council members Bobbie Rivere, Scott Martin and Michael Reina.
