Galaxy Gymnastics, Howell, competed in the Level 7 State Sectional Meet held in Wanamassa at Ace Gymnastics.
In the 13-year-old age group, Bayleigh Fobes was second in the all-around (36.675). She was second on the uneven bars, fifth on the balance beam, sixth on the floor exercise and seventh on the vault. Teammate Alyssa Leitner was 10th on the floor exercise.
In the 11-year-old age group, Celine Rablo was third on the vault and fifth on the floor.
Breanna Ray won the all-around competition in the 9-year-old age group.

Galaxy's JOGA Level C team opened its season at a meet hosted by Ace Gymnastics.
In the 10- to 11-year-old group, Kelsey Baum was eighth in the all-around while placing third on the bars and eighth on the beam.
In the 12-13-year-old age group, Cindy Viru was fourth in the AA while taking second on the beam, third on the vault and fifth on the bars. Kristine Holdorf took third on the bars. Cindy Neustater and Julia Lee also competed in this age group for Galaxy.

The Shore Athletic Club's 45th annual Asbury Park Polar Bear Races on the boardwalk will be held Dec. 28. The Polar Bear 5-Mile Run will start at 1 p.m. It is preceded by the Polar Bear 10-Mile Racewalk and 5-Mile Health and Fitness Walk at 10 a.m. The races will feature the traditional Polar Bear T-shirts and hot soup served after the race. The Freehold Area Running Club will be hosting its 2009, 26th annual 5k Winter Series. The series dates are Sundays, Jan. 4, 11, 18, 25 and Feb. 1. The 5k races start at 10 a.m., with kids' half and one-mile races at 9:30 a.m. The action takes place at Michael Tighe Park, Georgia Road, Freehold Township. The MC Renegades, a 13U travel baseball team playing in the central Jersey area, is seeking quality players, especially pitchers and catchers.
Players must be born after May 1, 1995. The team will be having indoor winter training workouts starting in January and then will play in a spring travel baseball league, including tournaments. The Howell Township Recreation Department will be holding registration for indoor lacrosse through January 9th at the Recreation Building. The program will run for seven weeks on Saturdays starting January 24th through March 21st from 1:30 to 2:30pm for third through fifth graders and 2:30 to 3:30pm for sixth through eighth graders at the Howell High School Gym. The fee is $25 for Howell Township residents.
Outdoor lacrosse registration runs through January 16th at the Recreation Building for the spring season. The program will run from April until the beginning of June. Participants must be currently attending third through eighth grade. The fee is $65 for Howell Township residents and $75 for non-residents. All players must provide their own equipment.
