            Mrs. Nixon, 73, of Matawan, died Dec. 24, 2008, following a battle with cancer. She was a registered nurse at The Hospital Center at East Orange, and Martland Medical Center, Newark, for more than 40 years. She was predeceased by a sister, Barbara, and a brother, Joseph.

            Mr. Miluzzo 93, of Jackson Township, died Dec. 31, 2008, at home. He was a vice president at Union Labor Life and Prescription Plan Services, retiring in 1988. He is survived by his wife, Leopolda, of Jackson; a son Bernard, of Bristol, Conn.

            Mrs. Brooks, 64, of Monroe, formerly of Sayreville, died Dec. 30, 2008, at home. She was predeceased by her parents, Dominick Pasquale and Rose Tango Pasquale; a brother, Gerard Pasquale; and a grandson, Luke Matthew Santopietro. Surviving are her husband, Robert J. Brooks; a son, Peter J. Santopietro, and his wife, Rita, of South Brunswick; a daughter, Dina M.

            Mr. Marzullo, 80, a resident of Marlboro for 20 years, died Jan. 1, 2009, at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold Township. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a master plasterer for the New York City Housing Authority until retiring in 1990.

      Linda Mary Jeleniewski
            Mrs. Jeleniewski, 56, of Howell, died Jan. 2, 2009, at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood, after a long battle with scleroderma. She had lived in Belford before moving to Howell in 1998. Mrs. Jeleniewski was a state certified child care provider, owning her own business for many years. She was predeceased by her father, James Salerno, and a brother. Thomas Salerno.

      Richard T. Nagurka Sr.
            Mr. Nagurka, 69, of Howell, died Dec. 3, 2008, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, after a long battle against cancer. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was a member of the FMBA, Local 26, Weehawken, and the New Jersey State Firemen's Relief Association. Mr. Nagurka was a firefighter with the Weehawken Fire Department for 31 years, retiring in 1996.

            Mrs. Gallagher, 74, of The Villages in Howell died Dec. 4, 2008, at home. Mrs. Gallagher was born in Passaic and had resided in Asbury Park before moving to Howell eight years ago. She was an admissions and adoption counselor for the Monmouth County SPCA, Eatontown. Her husband, Dennis J. Gallagher, III died in 1989. Surviving are a son, Sean T.

            Mr. Valgemae, also known as Peter Whitehill, formerly of Lakewood, died Dec. 30, 2008, at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Clare's Hospital, Dover. He survived by his wife, Tina; three daughters; and a brother. Funeral arrangements are private and under the direction of the Par-Troy Funeral Home, Parsippany.

She was a unit leader for Pomptonian Food Service at Pine Brook School and volunteered at Taylor Mills School for 16 years. Mrs. Blanco was predeceased by her father, Aniello DiSpigna, and her father-in-law, Peter Blanco.

Ms. Cruz was predeceased by her parents, Luis and Maria Madera, a brother, Pedro Madera-Martinez, and a sister, Virginia Madera Martinez.

            Mrs. Luke, 90, of Jackson and formerly of Freehold, died Nov. 20, 2008, at home. She was an inspector at Brockway Glass Co., Freehold Township, where she was employed from 1957 until her retirement in 1981. Mrs. Luke was predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Makayla O'Donnell.

            Mr. Costa, 53, of Manalapan, died Dec. 27, 2008, after a long battle with cancer. Born in Kearny, he lived in Hazlet and Matawan before moving to Manalapan in 1989. Mr. Costa was a foreman for NJ Transit in Kearny for 35 years.

      Donald Bruce Leitch Sr.
            Mr. Leitch, 71, of Jackson, died Jan. 1, 2009, following a battle with lung cancer. He was born in Kearny and was raised in Laurence Harbor. He graduated from Sayreville High School and served in the United States Navy. Mr. Leitch retired from Hub Dental Supply in 2002 and was a past master mason at St. Stephen's Masonic Lodge in South Amboy.

            Mrs. Le Van, 83, of the Leisure Village section of Lakewood, died Dec. 5, 2008, at home. Before her retirement in 1985, she was employed by Equitable Life Insurance Co. in New York City, where she worked as a computer programmer for 25 years. Mrs. Le Van was predeceased by her husband, Wayne Le Van, and by a daughter, Denise Haggiag, in 2004.
