Jackson Educational Foundation fundraiser Feb. 21

JACKSON — The third annual fashion show and gift auction luncheon sponsored by the Jackson Educational Foundation is ready to roll.

The afternoon of fashion, food and fun will take place on Feb. 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at La Bové Grande at Circle Landmark, Route 70, Lakehurst. Tickets are $30 per person and include a full sit-down luncheon with appetizer, main course, dessert and beverage, and a gift auction raffle.

"Due to the economy, we're holding the prices firmly from last year, but we expect this to be one of the bestattended sessions," said Marty Spielman, president of the foundation.

He said people know how the foundation operates and have grown to respect the organization.

"People know how we raise money and what we do with it," Spielman said. "We have people who never heard about the foundation before a collection was made at two adult communities, Four Seasons at Metedeconk Lakes and Westlake. We're a lot more well known now."

Spielman is also a member of the Jackson Board of Education and said it is important for the foundation to be able to fund items and programs the regular school budget may not include.

The Feb. 21 fashion show will feature gown selections from David's Bridal of Freehold, sportswear from MTI of Toms River, and formal attire from Chaz Ma Tazz of Toms River. His and her prom wear, cocktail wear, evening wear and casual wear will be shown.

Local sponsors include Crestwood Jewelers, Farley's, Basile's, Hans Maxem Salon, Seasonal World, Angelo's Pizzeria, ShopRite of Jackson, The Detail Center of Freehold, Do U A Favor, Kick'n Chick'n and more.

The Jackson Jazz Ensemble, consisting of students from Jackson schools, will perform.

Auction items include footballs signed by Warren Moon and Rich Gannon, and basketball photos signed by Dennis Rodman and Scotty Pippen.

The Jackson Educational Foundation promotes, sponsors, supplements and enhances basic school programs by providing educational opportunities that would not otherwise be available to students through the school budget.
