      Howell boys win bowling crown
      Howell girls second in Monmouth County
            The Howell High School boys bowling team picked the right time to put it all together. The Rebels rolled up a scored of 3,108 to top St. John Vianney High School (2,916) by almost 200 pins to win the Monmouth County championship for the second straight year. Manalapan was third (2,872) and Freehold Township was fourth (2,767).

      Lacroix to play football at Fordham
            Langston Lacroix, an all-state running back from New Egypt High School, Plumsted, has signed a letter of intent to continue his football career at Fordham University in New York. Lacroix gave his oral commitment to Rams coach Tom Masella on Jan. 23.

      Howell wrestlers open bid for sectional crown
            If the Howell High School wrestling team won its opening bout in the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group IV team tournament on Feb. 11, the Rebels will wrestle for the sectional title on Friday. Coach John Gagliano's Rebels (21-1), who wrapped up a fourth straight Shore Conference A North Division title earlier in the season, were the No. 2 seed in the state sectional bracket.

            With the previous meeting between the two schools locked away in its memory, the New Egypt High School wrestling team had a score to settle with Point Pleasant Beach High School. "Our guys were very aware that we had lost a very tough match to them last year," Warriors coach Kevin English said.
