Fourteen seventh-grade students from Holy Family School in Lakewood recently competed in the 16th annual Scholastic Olympics at Monsignor Donovan High School, Toms River, with unprecedented success.

The Holy Family School students not only placed first in their division, but also took overall first place honors in a field of 19 private and public schools.

The students competed in the disciplines of Art, English, History, Math, Science, Spelling and Technology. Nine Holy Family School students received individual medals in the various areas of competition, leading the way to the overall championship.

"I cannot think of a better way for our students to show how hard work, dedication and poise can lead to tremendously successful outcomes," said Principal Robert Andrews. "We at Holy Family School are extremely proud of their outstanding achievement. Their success is a direct reflection of our outstanding teachers and innovative academic programs."

The championship scholastic team members are Lauren LiPuma, Joseph Valenti, Kaitlyn Lipuma, John Patrick Imperiale, Vandan Patel, Christopher Schwartz, Dylan Greene, Niranjan Ramanand, Ryan Heffernan, Michael Skurla, Lauren Fitzpatrick, Kristine Sobredilla, Erik Contreras and Eric Fitamant.
