Class of 2012 will host pancake breakfast May 16

PLUMSTED — On the morning of May 16 the Class of 2012 "Warrior Pride" pancake breakfast and bake sale fundraiser will be held at the Dr. Gerald Woehr Elementary School cafeteria on North Main Street from 8 to 11:30 a.m. The cost is $5 in advance and $6 at the door. For tickets or more information, contact ram1094@aol.com or call 609-758-0850.

In preparation for this month's gypsy moth spraying, Plumsted officials have sent letters to residents in the spray zone.

Since the actual spray date is dependent upon weather and other environmental conditions, the township will provide telephone notification when the spray date is determined for those residents who call the township business administrator's office at 609-758-2241, ext. 104, to request the notification.

In other news, Mayor Ron Dancer said census 2010 enumerators are now walking or driving through neighborhoods to check addresses in preparation for the mailing of the official census questionnaire. Under no circumstances should census enumerators be asking for Social Security or bank account numbers.

The census enumerators doing the address canvassing should have a census identification badge and a laptop or hand-held computer for the collection of GPS coordinates for each location.

Citizens can confirm if an individual is an official census enumerator by calling this toll-free number, 877-348-9277. If a census enumerator acts in a suspicious manner or does not display the official census identification badge, residents are urged to contact the police department, the mayor said.

"Cruz Nites," featuring the display of classic and antique cars, will return to downtown New Egypt on Main Street on the second Thursday of each month, from May 14 to Sept. 10 (6-9 p.m.).

On May 7 the National Day of Prayer will be observed in the courtroom of the municipal building, 121 Evergreen Road, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Local residents are organizing the event and are encouraging the public of all faiths to attend this year's National Day of Prayer observance.

The next regularly scheduled public meetings of the Township Committee will be held on May 6 and June 3 at 8 p.m. at the municipal building.
