Business Briefs PetSmart has opened a new location at 4586 Route 9, Howell. The new 20,000- square-foot PetSmart store offers an array of products, professional services and advice to care for the lifetime needs of pets, and all under one roof. The new Howell PetSmart brings: • 40 full- and part-time jobs. • A full-service grooming salon. • Training classes. • Seasonal events such as the recent Birthday Celebration where pets can indulge their parents by modeling their favorite party hat. • In-store adoption program. The Howell Pointe Swim Club recently held an open house for residents to see the grounds of the new facility at 22 Howell Road, Howell. Howell Pointe has been designed to provide members with a "resortlike" atmosphere. The swim club features three heated pools, a large deck area with chaise lounges, tables, chairs and umbrellas. The recreation area includes a basketball court, volleyball court, wall ball and Wiffle ball park. The 4,200-square-foot airconditioned clubhouse includes a game room, TV lounge area and full kitchen to provide an indoor/outdoor café with table service on weekends. Gellman Images, Howell, was selected as the official image-maker for the 2009 New Jersey Hall of Fame induction ceremony that took place May 3 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Newark. Gellman Images was responsible for all still images and behind-the-scenes video for the event, as well as the imaging content for the satellite museums, such as the IZOD Center, Meadowlands; NJPAC; and a mobile unit that will travel statewide. Gellman Images recently won national recognition for a video created at 30 Rockefeller Center, New York City. In addition, an "An Event to Remember," a documentary created by Gellman Images, has been selected to be shown at the National September 11 Memorial and Museum, New York City. The Lakewood Development Corporation (LDC), a division of the Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ), will hold a free public seminar, "Taxation Workshop for the Small Business," from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 27 in Conference Room C of the Lakewood municipal building, 231 Third St. The workshop, given by the New Jersey Division of Taxation, will include information about UEZ purchases, UEZ sales tax incentives, and how to register a business, among other topics. All businesses are welcome, even if they are not a participating UEZ business. The UEZ program was designed to foster economic growth to revitalize and stimulate designated urban communities. More than 360 participating UEZ businesses in Lakewood benefit from tax and financial incentives. The Goddard School, 178 West Veterans Highway, Jackson, recently received special recognition at the company's annual convention held at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa in Austin, Texas. School owners Lisa Fritz and Bill Fritz received a business award. The Goddard School offers a year-round program for children from 6 weeks to 6 years old. In January, Goddard Systems Inc. received company-wide accreditation from the Commission on International and Trans- Regional Accreditation (CITA) by meeting all seven of CITA's accreditation quality standards, including a research-based curriculum, teaching methods that enhance student learning and a commitment to continuous improvement. Goddard schools support the ongoing training of Goddard teachers by providing professional development courses on a quarterly basis through Goddard Systems University, which has been approved as an authorized provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training. Lakewood Mayor Robert W. Singer, the Lakewood Development Corp., the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce and the Lakewood Industrial Commission will jointly host a free Business and Industry Expo, Home Show and Job Fair for the public on July 16 from 3-7 p.m. at the Lake Terrace Exhibition Center in the Lakewood Industrial Park, 1690 Oak Street, Lakewood. More than 100 exhibitors and vendors are expected to participate. Buster, the mascot of the Lakewood BlueClaws baseball team, will be on hand to take pictures with attendees. Every attendee will receive a coupon for a free hot dog, soda, and chips for the BlueClaws game, scheduled the evening of the Expo. Exhibition space and sponsorship opportunities are still available.
