      Jackson church slates June 20 family event
            Jackson United Methodist Church invites the community to attend its annual youth/family event, "Illuminating Immersion III," from 4-9 p.m. June 20 at the church, 68 Bennetts Mills Road, Jackson. Free admission will include food, games, worship and contemporary Christian music.

      Drum corps event at Jackson Liberty H.S.
            The Jackson Liberty High School Band Parents and Students Association have announced that Jackson Liberty High School has been selected to host the 2009 "Music in Motion" Drum Corps International competition on July 6. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Jackson Liberty High School, 125 North Hope Chapel Road, Jackson.

            St. Veronica School Summer Camp for children in prekindergarten through eighth grade is currently accepting registration. Camp will be held from June 29 through Aug. 7 at the church and school, Route 9, Howell.

      Howell Scouts will return to collect food
            HOWELL — Boy Scout Troop 258 of Howell is conducting a food drive to help replenish food and goods needed at the Howell Emergency Food Pantry as part of its community service project. The Scouts have already dropped off bags in their neighborhoods and they will return between 10 a.m. and noon June 13 to collect the food that residents donate.

      Jackson tea party set for July 4
            JACKSON — All citizens are being invited to John F. Johnson Jr. Memorial Park in Jackson for a July 4 "Don't Tread on Me" tea party. According to a press release from the Jackson Tea Party, the rally will take place at the park on Kierych Memorial Drive, just south of South Cooks Bridge Road, from noon to 3 p.m.
