      Board puts final stamp on budget
      Howell K-8 tax rate to rise 2 cents instead of 3 cents per $100 of valuation
            HOWELL — After a two-week delay, the Board of Education unanimously approved the Township Council's $1 million budget cut recommendations at its June 3 meeting. Initially, the board stalled the application of the recommended budget cuts due to the council's decision to amend the school tax levy resolution three hours before a May 19 deadline.

            JACKSON — It is not too often that a local high school gets picked as a stop on a national speaking tour, but Jackson Liberty High School recently received that honor when it was selected to host a presentation by David Guggenheim, the president of 1planet1ocean, a project of The Ocean Foundation.

      Pupils create musical instruments
            JACKSON — Pupils at the St. Aloysius School are learning how to play musical instruments they have created. "It is amazing to see what can happen when teachers in the music and art departments in a school work together to benefit the children," said Olive Taylor, the school's public relations coordinator.
