      Gilbertson 2nd in high jump at Meet of Champions
            Howell High School junior Maggie Gilbertson was happy with her performance at the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association Meet of Champions. Gilbertson finished second in the girls high jump, clearing 5-6 at the season-ending meet held June 4 at Frank Jost Field in South Plainfield.

      Warriors conclude 20-6 softball season
            Sometime in the near future, the New Egypt High School softball team will be hanging several 2009 championship banners at the school in Plumsted. The Warriors completed a 20-6 campaign this spring as Coach Carolyn Videla's team continued to assert itself as one of the outstanding programs in central New Jersey.

      Jaguars reign in conference
           The Jackson Memorial High School baseball team put the wraps on a 22-3 campaign with a 2-0 win over Christian Brothers Academy in the championship game of the 2009 Shore Conference Tournament on June 3 at FirstEnergy Park, Lakewood. Above: Senior Kevin Needham, who delivered one of the runs with a base hit, fouls off a pitch from the CBA hurler. Below: Senior Pete Kelich delivers a pitch. Kelich allowed five hits and struck out seven Colts as he improved to 6-0.
