Hurler ends college career
      Taryn Pulvermuller of Plumsted, a graduate of New Egypt High School, recently finished her fourth and final softball season at Guilford College, Greensboro, N.C. Pulvermuller appeared in 16 games for the Quakers during the 2009 season, starting 10 games as a pitcher. On the mound, she went 5-1 with a 1.92 ERA, which ranked third on the team.

Cyclones win baseball championship
      The Jackson Cyclones 10-and-under baseball team won the 2009 Memorial Day Tournament in Marlboro. The Cyclones defeated the Marlboro Gold team, 6-5, on May 25 in the championship game. To reach the championship game, the Cyclones won their first game, 10-0, over Marlboro Blue, and then lost their second game, 9-6, to the Colts Neck Stampede.

Board taps Sinkhorn as NEHS grid coach

      The New Egypt High School football team will have a new coach at the helm when the 2009 season kicks off this fall. The Plumsted Board of Education has chosen Luke Sinkhorn to succeed Tom Farrell as the head coach of the Warriors' gridiron program.

Brick football coaches make move to Jackson

      Three men who coached under Warren Wolf at Brick Township High School in 2008 will be coaching football at Jackson high schools in 2009. At the conclusion of the 2008 season, Wolf retired at Brick after 51 seasons with the Green Dragons. He coached more high school victories than anyone in New Jersey football history.

Sport Shorts
      The Jackson Track Club will hold its second annual track and field summer camp from June 29 to Aug. 27. The camp will be held every Monday and Thursday at Jackson Liberty High School from 6-7:30 p.m. This includes a total of 18 sessions and participants are not required to attend all of the sessions.
