Business Briefs Zingaro's Barber Shop, 165 New Prospect Road, Jackson, will celebrate its grand opening on July 18 at noon. Owner Mike Zingaro, 38, is a lifelong Jackson resident and a graduate of Jackson Memorial High School, where he played varsity baseball. He is a member of the Jackson Knights of Columbus and has been a barber for 18 years. Zingaro has owned Mike's Barber Shop in Princeton for the past four years. The Jackson shop has all types of sports memorabilia, flat-screen televisions at all barber stations, and a large flat-screen television for video game playing. The shop specializes in all types of fashionable men's and boys' haircuts as well as hot-lather shaves. Every Body Deserves a Massage Week, July 19-25, is sponsored by Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP), the nation's largest massage membership association. As an ABMP member and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, Sorina Durante of Energy Balance Laser Therapy and Massage joins this public service designed to raise funds for nonprofit organizations and promote the benefits of massage therapy. During this event, Energy Balance Laser Therapy and Massage, 55 Schanck Road, Freehold Township, offers free chair massages on Monday and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. to raise donations or membership to benefit the Cancer Action Network, the nonprofit American Cancer Society's sister advocacy organization supporting access to health care for cancer patients. Lewis Wetstein, M.D., thoracic surgeon and chairman of surgery at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood, was recently appointed to key positions for two separate health care organizations in New Jersey. Wetstein was elected to a one-year term as president of the New Jersey Chapter of the American College of Surgeons. The New Jersey Chapter of the American College of Surgeons consists of surgeons "dedicated to advancing the highest standards of excellence in patient care, through the education of health professionals and the public, and by supporting research and surgical training programs in the state." The organization advocates at the state and national levels on behalf of surgeons and their patients. Wetstein was also selected as the president of the Society of Surgeons of New Jersey, with more than 600 members. Wetstein received his medical degree from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain, and completed his internship at Long Island Jewish-Hillside Medical Center in New Hyde Park, N.Y. Wetstein did his residency in general and cardio-thoracic surgery at Downstate Medical Center/ Kings County Hospital. A board-certified surgeon, Wetstein has a medical practice in Freehold. He is also on the medical staff and is chief of thoracic surgery at Community Medical Center in Toms River. He is the state air surgeon for New Jersey Air National Guard and is presently in his 34th year of active Reserve/ Guard duty. |
