Resident questions timing of raises for high school district employees
Iam absolutely outraged that the Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education would have the poor judgment to approve all of the raises put before it (recently). In the spring of this year, Superintendent of Schools James Wasser mentioned that during these difficult economic times the district would have to be more conservative with its spending.
This was just before he went on a business trip to California, after receiving his new luxury SUV from the district. Now the board approves raises for all the district administrators, making them some of the highest compensated in the state.
How much longer do the people of this district have to endure the hypocrisy that is regularly demonstrated by this board?
How many of the board members have relatives working in the district that violate its own nepotism policy? How many times do we have to listen to Mr. Wasser talk out of both sides of his mouth? This situation is intolerable.
People throughout all of our communities are losing their homes. There are 500 homes in foreclosure in Marlboro alone. How can any of us have any faith in those we elect to represent us in the district when things like this continue to happen?
It was bad enough that no one had the ability to properly address the bogus Dr. degrees, it was bad enough that those found guilty of this kept their ill-gotten pay, now everyone else gets a nice big raise … why don't we just let them all go back to getting Breyer State degrees?
The state of New Jersey has had to furlough workers to save money, Marlboro has had to furlough workers to save money, but the FRHSD board employees are getting raises. The money for all of these people, state, local, schools, comes from the same tax pool. How can anyone on that board think it is OK to vote for raises?
I cannot believe that in these times there is nothing any of us can do except to sit idly by and watch this happen. I cannot believe there isn't one person with the ability or knowledge who can't lead the way to removing all of these inept board members along with everyone who has demonstrated a total disregard for the ethical standards that should govern this board.
