• A New Egypt canoeing and kayaking skills clinic will be held on Oakford Lake, New Egypt, on Sept. 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bring your canoe or kayak to Paradise Park on Oakford Lake for a clinic where knowledgeable paddlers from the Outdoor Club of South Jersey will share information about boats, equipment, safety practices, paddling techniques and efficiencies. Participants will enjoy a scenic, short paddle on Oakford Lake to the headwaters of the Crosswicks Creek. Bring lunch and beverage or buy lunch in town. Participants must contact Peter Ylvisaker at 609-758-7539 to pre-register for the day. Space is limited.

The Ocean Health Initiatives mobile medical unit will be in Lakewood Town Square, between Clifton Avenue and Fourth Street, Lakewood, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 23 and July 30. Medical services will include adult exams only, minor illnesses and adult immunizations. Details: 732-363- 6655.

Blood drives will be conducted by the Central Jersey Blood Center on the bloodmobile from 3-7 p.m. July 24 at Hope Cathedral Church, 46 Bennetts Mills Road, Jackson, and from 5-9 p.m. July 30 at St. Monica's Church, 679 West Veterans Highway, Jackson. Details: 732-842-5750, ext. 238.

Funtasia Festival for Kids will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 24 at Ocean County Park, Route 88, Lakewood. The free event will feature a magic show, music, food, strolling entertainers, stage shows, sports demonstrations, games and free inflatable rides in addition to a child ID program, and carnival games. The Jackson Township Historic Commission will meet at 7 p.m. July 24 in the main meeting room of the Jackson municipal building, 95 West Veterans Highway, Jackson. The Disabled American Veterans DAV Mobile Service Office will be at the Harley-Davidson of Ocean County, 300 Route 70, Lakewood, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 1 to provide personal counseling and claim filing assistance for veterans. This event is part of the nationwide Harley's Heroes tour and is free to all veterans and members of their families. Details: 973- 297-3378.

A Christmas in August Tricky Tray hosted by the Jackson Chapter of Deborah will be held Aug. 28 at the Veterans of ForeignWars hall, 54 Magnolia Drive, Jackson. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Donation: $3. Refreshments will be served. No one under age 18 will be admitted. All proceeds will benefit Deborah Hospital.
