Eagle Ridge Golf Club marks 10th anniversary

LAKEWOOD — The Eagle Ridge Golf Club celebrated its 10-year anniversary on June 26. The special anniversary celebration included a formal invocation and address by the president and owners of Eagle Ridge, Jerry and Jan Kokes, as well as Lakewood Mayor Robert Singer.

Many friends of Eagle Ridge came out to show their support, including Maureen Stankowitz of the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce, who presented the club with a special plaque to commemorate the day.

Eagle Ridge also hosted a members-only golf tournament followed by the formal ceremony.

"Eagle Ridge would be nothing without the support of the community and our members, and for that, we truly thank you for the past 10 amazing years," said Jerry Kokes.

"We opened the Eagle Ridge Golf Club in 1999 anticipating that we would expand the clubhouse and the course to 27 holes in the future, but we never expected that the demand would come so soon," Kokes said. "Following the first year of operations, it became very apparent to us that we underestimated the appeal Eagle Ridge would generate."

According to a press release, the Kokes family broke ground to make way for a 25,000-square-foot clubhouse at Eagle Ridge. In December 2004 Eagle Ridge opened the Grand View Ballroom, which accommodates up to 300 guests for weddings, social occasions and corporate meetings.

In the fall of 2007, the owners broke ground on their "New Nine" holes, making Eagle Ridge one of the very few semi-private 27-hole golf courses in New Jersey. The "New Nine" allows for more availability, more variety and more tee times for all public golfers and for the members.

"No matter if you are a weekend golfer looking for access in the morning or a family of four who wants to play nine holes, Eagle Ridge will have what our customers are looking for," said Mike Attara, director of golf and operations.

Eagle Ridge Golf Club is a full-service, family-oriented golf club open to the public. Eagle Ridge features a Brian Ault-designed 27-hole championship golf course. The club offers a golf shop, spacious locker room facilities for men and women, and a golf academy for all ages and skill levels.

The club is owned and operated by the Kokes family, is open to the public and offers a limited number of memberships.
