      Prescription Bus to visit Jackson on Aug. 9
            JACKSON — The prescription bus, sponsored by America's pharmaceutical research companies, will return to Jackson to assist those who are uninsured or struggling financially and in need of medications. "The number of people who are unable to afford their medication grows daily as more and more people lose their jobs," Township Council President Mike Kafton said.

      Strawberry to speak in Jackson
            Former New York Mets and New York Yankees slugger Darryl Strawberry will appear at Jackson Memorial High School, 101 Don Connor Blvd., Jackson, on Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. Strawberry will speak, answer questions from the audience and sign autographs.

      Trip to see 'Marvelous Wonderettes' planned
            The Lakewood Community School is sponsoring a bus trip to see "The Marvelous Wonderettes" on Aug. 19. This off-Broadway musical production features music of the 1950s and '60s sung by the Wonderettes at their 1958 prom. The $75 fee includes admission to the show, bus transportation, and driver gratuity.

      Ice hockey team plans fishing fundraiser
            The Jackson Memorial High School ice hockey team will present its first fluke fishing fundraiser, "Fishing for Goals," Aug. 15 on the Miss Norma K out of Point Pleasant Beach.       Jackson girl attends Girls Nation event
            Kellyann Fitzpatrick of Jackson, a student at Red Bank Catholic High School, is one of only 98 young women who attended the 63rd American Legion Auxiliary Girls Nation in Washington, D.C., July 18-25. Two outstanding citizens, known as senators, are selected at the 49 Girls State Sessions held across the country to represent their state at Girls Nation.

      Circus returns to Lakewood
            LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood Blue- Claws have announced that the Cole Bros. Circus of the Stars will be performing at FirstEnergy Park for seven shows beginning on Aug. 14 and running through Aug. 16. This is the third year in a row that the Blue- Claws have hosted a circus at FirstEnergy Park.
