      • The Jackson Women of Today will hold two food distribution dates for September. A special distribution will be held on Sept. 23 for clients who are handicapped or over 60 years old from 5-6:30 p.m. Sept. 24 is the regular distribution of food from 5-7 p.m. in the DPW Building, 10 Don Connor Blvd., Jackson.

Playground to be closed for repairs
      JACKSON — The Jackson Jungle playground at the Jackson Justice Complex, West Veterans Highway, will be closed during November for upgrades. According to a press release, the Jackson Jungle was built in 2000 through the efforts of several Jackson nonprofit organizations, many volunteers, the Jackson Department of Public Works and the Township Committee.

OCREA will host 50th anniversary luncheon
      The Ocean County Retired Educators Association (OCREA) will host its 50th Anniversary Luncheon at the Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Lakewood on Oct. 15. Members and their guests are welcome to attend this event, which will focus on the accomplishments of OCREA for the past 50 years as well as present endeavors.

Teen talent show slated for Strand
      The Strand Theater will host its second annual Teen Talent Show. The Teen Theater Geeks program, directed and produced by Chloe Gesslein, will be presented Sept. 19 at 3 p.m. at the theater, located at 400 Clifton Ave., Lakewood. All are welcome to attend. Wheels for Meals supports food pantry
      The third annual Wheels for Meals car show hosted by the Blue Moon Kruizers Classic Car Club of Howell was held at Chick-fil-A of Howell on July 18. The event was dedicated to Dawn Marie Jones, a club member and the wife of club member Davey Jones, who lost her battle with cancer last year. The theme of the show was to collect monetary donations for the Howell Food Pantry.

Strand will present doo-wop show
      Audience members will be taken on a stroll down memory lane with some of the most popular performers from the 1960s when the Strand Theater, 400 Clifton Ave., Lakewood, presents "Saturday Night Jukebox," an oldies/doo-wop show, at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 26.
