      Plumsted flu shots will be given Oct. 7
            The Ocean County Health Department is offering flu and pneumococcal shots from 1-2 p.m. Oct. 7 at the New Egypt First Aid Building, Brynmore Road, New Egypt, at a cost of $20 each.       Vendors wanted for New Egypt's Fall Fest
            Fall Fest '09 will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 1 in downtown New Egypt. The event will feature live music, country line dancing, face painting, amusements, food and more. This year Plumsted's resident bluebirds will be celebrated with a Bluebird Trail.

      Trip planned to Radio City Christmas Show
            Seats are still available for a Dec. 10 bus trip to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular in New York City. Sponsored by the Lakewood Community School, all are welcome to attend. The cost is $85 for transportation and a front mezzanine seat. The bus will depart at 9 a.m. for the 2 p.m. show, allowing ample time for lunch and sightseeing. Reservations: 732-905-3685.

      Green Music Festival to benefit ailing man
            Food, fun and music featuring the Mango Brothers, Crazy Lester and the Lestones, Frank Fotusky, Paul Unkert, Stone Blue, Nick Chili and The Beans, and more will be featured in the Green Music Festival at Silverton Farm, 1520 Silverton Road, Toms River, Sept. 26 from 1 p.m. to dusk (rain date Sept. 27).

            • The Jackson VFW is running its annual Fall Turkey Target Shoots every Sunday until Nov. 15. Only 12-gauge, full-choke, non-ported, non-altered shotguns are allowed (screw-in chokes are allowed but will be checked by the post safety officer). The shoots start at 1 p.m. and are open to the public. Food and beverages are available.

      DeBows Church offers two youth groups
            The DeBows United Methodist Church located at the intersection of Routes 571 and 537 in Jackson, has two youth groups, which are open to the community. The Wesley Club for grades 1-5 meets twice a month on Thursday evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

      Trap-Neuter-Return training session Oct. 3
            JACKSON — The Animal Protection League of New Jersey will hold a complete Trap- Neuter-Return (TNR) training session from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Jackson municipal building, 95 West Veterans Highway. Participants will learn how to trap, care for and protect the cats for the rest of their lives.
