      Howell man named to Elks national post
            During the 145th national convention of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, held in Portland, Ore., Robert G. Jani of Howell Elks Lodge No. 2515 was appointed by Elks National President James L. Nichelson to the Order's National Government Relations Committee.

      Six Flags Fright Fest blood donors sought
            The seventh annual Fright Fest blood drive at Six Flags Great Adventure will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 10 in the park's employment center, 1 Six Flags Blvd, off Route 537, Jackson. Donors must be age 17 or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health.

      Vietnam veteran to discuss experience
            JACKSON — All are welcome to come to the Jackson library, 2 Jackson Drive, at 2 p.m. on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, to hear Jackson resident Leon Gromowa, a former member of the United States Marine Corps who served with the 3rd Marine Division in the DMZ and Khe Sanh area, talk about his war experiences in Vietnam.

            JACKSON — The autumn brings cool weather, another school year, and the 15th annual Fall Forestry Festival at the Forest Resource Education Center (FREC).             For four years in a row, one Jackson resident has remembered the children at Rosenauer School with a donation of school supplies. Joseph Brill has once again contributed more than 100 sets of school supplies to Rosenauer School students.
