The Jackson Department of Recreation and Senior Services is accepting registrations for the 2009-10 winter basketball program for boys and girls ages 7-17, which begins Jan. 2, 2010. Register from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the Jackson Recreation Department, Don Connor Boulevard. Proof of age is required to register. Fee is $50. A Challenger Soccer Shootout for special-needs children ages 5-13 will be hosted by the New Jersey Elks Southeast District Special Children's Committee from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Drum Point Athletic Field, Drum Point Road and Brick Boulevard, Brick Township. The eighth annual 95.9 RAT Rock Open Charity Golf Classic will begin with registration at 7 a.m. Oct. 5 at the Eagle Ridge Golf Club, Lakewood. Shotgun start is 8 a.m. with a scramble (best ball) format. The event, hosted by Greater Media radio station WRAT and the LADACIN Network (formerly Cerebral Palsy of Monmouth and Ocean Counties), will help raise money for better equipment and programs for individuals with cerebral palsy. The cost of $225 per golfer includes continental breakfast, buffet lunch, open bar, greens fee, golf cart, gift bags and a gift auction. Prizes will be given for the longest drive, closest to the pin, hole-in-one and "beat the pro." Lunch only is $50 per person and includes prizes, raffles, auctions and a 50/50 raffle.
