Race, tour slated for Nov. 1 in New Egypt
      The Crosswicks-Doctors Creek Watershed Association is sponsoring a kayak and canoe race and tour on the Crosswicks Creek on Nov. 1. Both events will begin 8 a.m. at the Oakford Lake Dam in New Egypt. The race will be a 9-mile downstream course that will end at Provinceline Road. The creek contains many twists and turns, and some portage may be required.

Knights to host Texas Hold'em tourney
      The Howell-Jackson Knights of Columbus Council 6201 will hold its second annual charity Texas Hold'em Tournament Oct. 10 at the council home on Bartley Road in Jackson. The event will start at 6 p.m. and the cost is $100 to participate, with additional re-buys and add-ons available during the event.

      The Jackson Civic Chorus will hold an open audition for tenors at 7 p.m. Oct. 13, during its regular rehearsal in the Jackson United Methodist Church, 68 Bennett Mills Road, Jackson. The chorus is a community chorus sponsored by the Jackson Council for the Arts.

      The Ladies Auxiliary of Howell-Jackson Knights of Columbus Council 6201 will host an outdoor flea market from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 10 at the council home, 401 Bartley Road, Jackson. Only 12-gauge, full-choke, non-ported, non-altered shotguns are allowed (screw-in chokes are allowed but will be checked by the post safety officer).
