1,000 more cars will make Veterans Highway in Jackson less safe It was with great interest that I read your article in which Jackson is considering forming a road safety committee to study safety issues among our roads ("Road Safety Would Be Focus for New Panel," Tri-Town News, Oct. 1). I am particularly concerned about the increasing death toll of drivers along one particular stretch of Veterans Highway. This road was not designed for the high speed density it must now handle. My biggest concern is the impact 1,000 additional cars would have, should the developments along Grawtown Road and Veterans Highway be approved. Adding 1,000-plus cars to Veterans Highway could only mean more tragic results. I hope that planning boards and safety committees take this into consideration before more developments are approved. We need to make Jackson a safe place to live for residents and auto drivers, not just a great place for developers to deforest our land, overcrowd our schools, congest our roads making them more dangerous, then taking their profits and leaving us to deal with the consequences.
