The Jackson VFW is running its annual Fall Turkey Target Shoots every Sunday until Nov. 15. Only 12-gauge, full-choke, non-ported, non-altered shotguns are allowed (screw-in chokes are allowed but will be checked by the post safety officer). A fish fry sponsored by the New Egypt Elks, 105 Lakewood Road, New Egypt, will be held 6-8 p.m. Oct. 9 at the lodge. The cost for a fish dinner is $9 (two pieces) and $10 (three pieces). Chicken will be available for $8 (two pieces) and $9 (three pieces). All children's dinners are $5. Dinner includes sides, desserts and beverages. Take-out is available. • A community yard sale sponsored by the Board of Deacons, Plumsted Presbyterian Church, will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 10 (rain date Oct. 17) at the Plumsted Presbyterian Church parking lot behind the church at 14 Front St., New Egypt. Tables are available for $15 while they last or spaces are available for $10 each without a table. Donations of merchandise may be made for the church's table. A Pet Blessing will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 10 on the lawn of DeBows United Methodist Church in Jackson. This event commemorates the ministry of St. Francis of Assisi, who had a great love for all of God's creatures. The church is at the intersection of Route 571 and Route 537. The seventh annual Fright Fest blood drive at Six Flags Great Adventure will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 10 in the park's employment center. Six Flags is at 1 Six Flags Blvd, off Route 537, Jackson. Donors must be age 17 or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. All donors participating will receive a free ticket to Fright Fest, which will run Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 1, plus Columbus Day, Oct. 12. A fall flea market fundraiser for the Historic Village at Allaire will be held at the historic village in Allaire State Park. Route 524, Wall Township, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 10. A Frozen Dreams gift auction sponsored by the Jackson Memorial Ice Hockey Club will be held Oct. 10 at AmVets Post 2, 1290 Toms River Road, Jackson. This month's speaker, Johannes Corley of Rutgers University, will discuss "India's Children of Israel, A 2,000-plus Year History of the Lost Descendants of Moses and Aaron." • An indoor and outdoor craft and vendor fair will be held at Jackson United Methodist Church from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 17. Delaware artist Landing Lane will be the featured entertainment. All are invited to enjoy lunch and family-friendly Christian music while shopping for the holidays. The fair is held in conjunction with the church's pumpkin patch, which is open through October and benefits the Jackson Food Pantry and Church World Service.
