Howell's Anthony Gallicchio, 11, played on the USA Junior Olympic Inline Roller Hockey Team that won the silver medal at the AAU Junior Olympic Games in Feasterville, Pa. Gallicchio, a forward, was the leading goal-scorer for Team USA with 16 goals. He also had four assists for a total of 20 points, which ranked fifth overall among all age groups. He is ranked No. 1 in 12-Under in goals scored and assists. Gallicchio formed his own Inline team, the Hawks, earlier this year, and that team has won one gold and four silver medals at regional tournaments.
Kelly Lyons, a Jackson Memorial High School graduate and the 2008 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Rookie of the Year, scored her conferenceleading 10th goal of the season on Sept. 29 as the Georgian Court University women's soccer team won its second straight game and improved to 5-5 (3-1 in the CACC) with a 4-1 victory at Goldey-Beacom College, Wilmington, Del.
The Jackson Township Department of Recreation and Senior Services is registering players for the 2009-10 winter basketball program for boys and girls ages 7-17 as of Jan. 2, 2010.
