      JACKSON — Several Jackson businesses opened up their hearts and their doors to students with special needs from Jackson Liberty and Jackson Memorial high schools on Oct. 21 for National Disability Mentoring Day (DMD), a day of career awareness.

Books take pupils around the world
      PLUMSTED — Students at the New Egypt Middle School have lifted off for England as part of the school's new reading incentive program. The program will see students traveling around the world this year. Every two weeks, students who have read 20 minutes per night for enjoyment will earn a passport to the next country on their voyage.
