Public can learn about swine flu JACKSON — A seminar that will inform members of the public about the risks of the H1N1 (swine flu) strain will be held in the Jackson municipal building, 95 West Veterans Highway, at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 30. Residents will be informed about measures they can take to prevent the virus from infecting themselves and their family members. "The best thing we can do for ourselves and our families at this time is to stay informed and emphasize to our children and our families the importance of practicing healthy habits," Mayor Mike Reina said. "With everyone's conscious effort and the knowledge needed to prepare ourselves for this potentially harmful virus, the community can pull together to help prevent this from becoming widespread," he added. During the meeting, representatives from the Ocean County Board of Health will discuss the differences between the H1N1 virus and the seasonal flu. Attendees will learn how the H1N1 virus mutates and how it is spread, as well as treatment options and vaccinations. For further information, call 732-928- 1200, ext. 211. |
