Jackson Community School plans trip
      All are invited to join the Jackson Community School on Dec. 19 for a trip to see Victorian Cape May's festively decorated gingerbread inns, houses, churches and hotels for interior self-guided evening tours. The town features Victorian homes decked out in holiday lights, carolers and instrumentalists on corners throughout the town and holiday cheer all around.

JROTC seeks donations for Feb. 20 gift auction
      JACKSON — Donations are being sought for a gift auction currently being planned for Feb. 20 to raise funds for the Jackson Memorial High School Air Force Junior ROTC. Funds raised will go toward financing a college scholarship program, equipping drill, color guard and academic teams, and supporting after-school activities and trips.

H&R Block to answer questions Nov. 27
      Representatives from H&R Block will be at the Jackson Branch of the Ocean County Public Library 1 p.m. Dec. 11 to answer questions about The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009: What is it? Who gets it? When should you expect to get it? What does the taxpayer need to do? The program is free and open to the public. Space is limited.

Scouts will conduct food drive
      Boy Scout Troop 258 of Howell will conduct a food drive to help replenish food and goods needed at the Howell Emergency Food Pantry. The Scouts will drop off bags in their neighborhoods beginning Dec. 5 and return between 10 a.m. and noon Dec. 12 to collect the bags. Donations should be left outside at the front door before 10 a.m. Dec. 12.

Hypnotist to visit Jackson library Jan. 6
      JACKSON — Certified hypnotist and author Robert M. Fried will discuss the benefits and misconceptions of hypnotism at 7 p.m. Jan. 6 at the Jackson branch of the Ocean County Library, 2 Jackson Drive.       • A Black Friday gift auction hosted by the Cassville Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary will be held Nov. 27 at the Miller fire station, 785 Miller Ave., Jackson.
