Lou Scatigna, of Jackson, has made a career with a unique brand of financial advice. A veteran certified financial planner and president of AFM Investments Inc., Howell, Scatigna has been advising on practical financial management for 26 years, calling himself "The Financial Physician."

Scatigna's first book, "The Financial Physician: How to Cure Your Money Problems and Boost Your Financial Health," has just been published. In the book, he uses analogies to physical health to help people understand complex financial matters.

Scatigna will appear at a book signing and talk at 1 p.m. Jan. 3 at Barnes & Noble, 4831 Route 9, Howell, in the Lanes Mill Marketplace.

For 10 years Scatigna has hosted a radio program called "The Financial Physician" on Sunday mornings at 11 a.m. on WOBMAM. In August his radio program went national, airing on XM Satellite Talk Radio 165 on Sundays at 6 p.m.

Scatigna and his business partner, Martin Saltzman, founded AFM Investments, 4667 Route 9, Howell, 22 years ago to provide financial management advice to residents of the Jersey Shore. Scatigna also provides income tax services. Details: 732- 905-8100.

The Free Motion Rehabilitation Center, 528 New Friendship Road, Howell, will host a Community Service Health and Wellness Seminar 5-7 p.m. Jan. 5 to benefit the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. The event will feature several health and wellness speakers, including Free Motion co-owner Michael Sheynin, and Steve Loder, a local nutrition and fitness coach.

Loder will kick off 10,000 pushups in his 30-day campaign to raise donations for the food bank. Information will be available regarding the various services offered at Free Motion, including physical therapy, massage therapy, group fitness classes and nutrition/weight-loss coaching programs. Awning Design, 638 Route 9 south, Howell, will relocate to a larger facility in the Fairfield Office Park, 916 Route 33, Howell. The new 7,300-square-foot space will house the company's product showroom, manufacturing and administrative offices.

Established in 1988, the company has four retail locations in Monmouth and Mercer counties and offers a full range of awning and sun-related products and services.
